having lived in several countries and traveled through many cities.
We may be completely different in how we think and who we are,
but when we travel together, it just works.

One time, we took a taxi to an Airbnb we had booked,
only to find absolutely nothing there.
The driver kept stopping at every corner,
asking people if we were in the right spot
until we all realized the place just didn't exist.

or have access to the internet.
Seeing how confused we were,
the taxi driver called his wife, who spoke English,
and tried to translate between us.
Then he offered to take us to a nearby hotel he trusted.
We insisted on paying him extra for his help,
but he quietly refused and drove away.
What could've been a terrible night turned into something unexpectedly warm.
The hotel he brought us to was exactly what we needed.
And to this day, we still talk about the breakfast omelet there
as the best one we've ever had.
